Angel Beats!

There is a new series airing this Friday (4th April) called "Angel Beats!". Produced by Key, renowned for creating legendary titles such as "Air", "Clannad" and "Little Busters".

Artwork is produced by P.A. Works though not big but helped develop for series i enjoy watching, such as "Darker than Black", "Canaan", and "True Tears".

So what is Angel Beats! all about? Well, think of it as, Haruhi and gang(much bigger gang) in the alternate dimension with action and fighting of DtB and Canaan. Oh and romance here and there. It's like giant titles mashed up into 1 to form this, so it better be good.
Synopsis:
Angel Beats! takes place in the afterlife, and follows the main protagonist Otonashi, a boy who lost his memories of his life after dying. He is enrolled into the afterlife school, which exists as a middle ground between heaven and earth, where students learn to give up any lingering attachments they still have from life before finally going to heaven. While the injuries or cause of death is gone, those in the afterlife school still can feel pain or other things as they did when they were alive. Otonashi meets a girl named Yuri who invites him to join the SSS—Shinda Sekai Sensen (死んだ世界戦線?, lit. Afterlife War Front)—an organization she leads which fights against God. The student council at the school, led by the student council president and angel Tenshi, is in charge of keeping the status quo and serve to fight against the SSS.

I'm a little skeptical on the Voice Actors though, some good ones and some unheard ones so we shall have to see.

Pokemon Cards just got cooler!

Introducing new Legend card.

Pokémon LEGEND are a variant of legendary Pokémon found in the Pokémon Trading Card Game. They first appeared in HeartGold & SoulSilver as one of two replacement variants for Pokémon LV.X. Pokémon LEGEND are one or two Pokémon comprised of two different cards: the first is the top half of the card whilst the second is the bottom half of the card. Pokémon LEGEND always have LEGEND at the end of their names and, as a result, differ from their regular variants. However, both halves of the card have the same name, so only two copies of the entire card can be used in a deck. During gameplay, Pokémon LEGEND cannot be played during setup. Both halves of the card must be played to the Bench at the same time.
In terms of the design of the entire card, the illustration takes up three-quarters of the entire space, with the card text positioned around it on the bottom half of the second card. The entire card is also holographic.

Birth By Sleep

Like every other day, 28 March comes once a year. Therefore, it is nothing that special, even though it is my Birthday. A lot of things happened the past year and come to think about it, it is all those events which made me who I am today.

Gotta Catch'em All!

So I got Pokemon: Heart Gold not too long ago. Firstly, it is a remake of the Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal Version back in the days. Now, this has got to be my favourite installment in the whole Pokemon series. Not only do you get 2 regions, that means you get to battle 16 Gym Leaders. And that also means you get to explore our favourite Kanto Region again. I loved the Crystal Version. That's why I'm loving Heart Gold. It's like re-living my childhood era with a DS! Additionally, Generation III and IV Pokemon can be caught/traded into this game, making it one hell of a great mix and a great game for all Poke fans.

On and unrelated note, it seems that they are working on ANOTHER generation of Pokemon (Generation V). The first of such Pokemon is to be seen in the upcoming 13th movie billed as Pocket Monsters Diamond & Pearl the Movie: Phantom Ruler: Zoroark (劇場版ポケットモンスター ダイヤモンド&パール 幻影の覇者 ゾロアーク Gekijōban Poketto Monsutā Daiyamondo ando Pāru: Gen'ei no Hasha: Zoroāku).

Once again on a lighter note, some funnies to end the post:

Ranger Addiction

Yes, lately I have been having a Rangers addiction. Namely, the original Power Rangers and Samurai Sentai Shinkenger. Each for different reasons.

MMPR:

This stuff is godly childhood stuff man. I mean, who doesn't know who MMPR is? You might as well end your life by jumping off a cliff. The very sight of MMPR brings back many nostalgic memories I had during my childhood. Dancing to the power rangers tune and morph stupidly with the on-screen heroes. Nostalgia is sweet and all but that's about as much I like about MMPR. Sure it had its moment. But that was 1993. This is 2010 we are talking about. The new generation of geek boys. Nonetheless, MMPR is awesome.

Bringing it on!

I wouldn't say this is the newest series, but it is the very reason that revived my love for Rangers. The innovative 'henshin' and other transformation is very entertaining to watch. Everyone gets bored of, "It's morphing time!". Shinkenger morphs by brush strokes using their phones and shouting "Ippitsu Soujo!"

Quite a difference eh. In this day and age, you got to be the best of the best to get the kids attention. Therefore, a lot of work was put into such series and shows even though it is targeted at young children.

Anyway, I kinda drift off. That wasn't the reason why I'm watching rangers/sentai again. After Power Rangers: Lost in Space, I realized that PR was getting tacky and generic and so I lost interest. That thought stuck on to me as the years go by. I always the the mentality as such -"As Kamen Rider progresses, Sentai will always stay at the bottom, much like Ultraman." During the crossover with Decade, I was intrigued by their new design(Shinkenger). So, i began to take a further peak. Soon, I found myself watching the whole damn series. And i must say, it is not a regret. The story surpasses t hat of recent Kamen Rider series and i truly enjoyed it. It was deep and emotional unlike other series I have watched. So in the end, I loved it because it was unique.

This year, Shinkenger has ended, which will be preceded by Goseiger. But as far as it goes, it looks very generic once again to me. So, I'll have to wait and see.

Maybe Den-o can form a Super Sentai =D

Just another saturday

So today, I saw the best shit ever.

At United Square, I was observing the UFO catchers trying to master it when suddenly this fat pikachu started walking around and waving at me. I waved backed to him and a lot of kids started chasing him. Lawrence went to pat his head and went on about how fat the pikachu was. I only managed to get a back shot...

While strolling at 313 with Lawrence, he got thirsty and went to Food Republic to get some juice. So, we were like waiting for it and was looking at the opposite store. This guy cooking noodles was happily chatting on the phone WHILE cooking. The best part was that he did it in front of everyone a brazenly without any care. Strangely, the customers weren't upset or surprised at the slightest. The world truly is changing. After laughing and all for a couple of minutes, I was about to take some pictures. However, I was too late and he hung up by then =(. Oh well, maybe you guys wont find it funny but it was really great in person.

Kung-fu fast forward, went Kushin-Bo Dinner Buffet with Lawrence and Tan Zhi Cai. We met Kashing and his family. After that, we walked from Great World City to Thiong Bahru Plaza. Pretty tiring but it was dark and fun Hehehe.

So far holidays has been rather okay. I ought to do something meaningful. Maybe, take over Singapore or something hahaha.

Review: Alice in Wonderland

Ok, Personally, I think this movie sucks. Not because I hate Alice in Wonderland, it's because the show was far too predictable, generic and weak in storyline. I found the whole plot rather unclimatic and the jokes very oddball-ish. I love British movies, but this was just a let down. As expected, the some jokes were too deep for shallow Singaporeans to comprehend, but I did not laugh at them either. And talk about untimely SFX. I do not know if the sound system at the cinema sucks bad or it was just the movie itself. I heard random loud swooshes here and there when there were talking. Many a times i had to rely on the chinese subtitles and I could not comprehend what was being said. But, this didn't really change the fact that the movie was not a good one. Poor Johnny Depp, but his character portrayal is very awesome indeed.

So, Alice is 19 years old now. After her father's death, she was attending a certain event. Caught his brother-in-law cheating, someone proposes to her, ya da ya da. Fell into a hole after chasing a rabbit. That started her so called "epic" journey. So, for half the show, she was being a mega pessimist and stuff. Eventually, she redeemed herself and slayed the giant Dragon.

Honestly, the scene looks like something you see from a Demon's Soul point of view(Small knight fight Big dragon). But again, they had to ruin it and gave the fight such a lame ending. Oh, did I mention Anne Hathaway looks like a goth princess in white here? So, Yea bad "sequel" of Alice. It made the "Alice in Wonderland" stage in Kingdom Hearts look more dramatic.

Rating: 2.5/5

Way to go 2010.

Bayonetta and other games

So finished bayonetta recently and it was much longer than expected but very enjoyable. Comparing it to DMC4 is obvious and the similarities are there however I personally found DMC4 much easier. Bayo has quite a challenging grading system but since there is dodging, slow motion and possible invulnerability good players will surely be able to get higher ranks. However, the lag is horrifying on the ps3. Loading a level, cinematic, even skipping a cinematic or pausing causes significant lag. Also for this who haven't had the pleasure of playing GOW, GOW2 or resident evil 5, there is the new god of war collection and resident evil 5 special edition which are both pretty cheap ( below $70 at the place i usually buy my games) and are well worth the money so i strongly suggest you get them if you're interested =D
